Are you interested in becoming a member of the JV Stars Swim Team Board?

The JV Stars Swim Team is looking for new members to serve on the team Board for the 2019 swim season and beyond. Everyone may not know but the JV Stars Swim Team has been around since, at least, 1980 making the JV Stars one of NWAL’s oldest swim teams! Countless numbers of parents have served on the board to keep it a vibrant, friendly, competitive, and family-oriented organization that represents the Jersey Village area proudly. As is always the case, swimmers get older and board members realize that the leadership torch must be passed on to other parents.

If you are interested in being a part of this tradition and working with a great group of swim parents, please contact Krista Guerrero, Kristine Gill, Carol Martin, Randeep Takkar and Aaron Guerrero so that we can discuss your interest and what duties and responsibilities a board member has. As a quick introduction, the board spends a considerable but meaningful amount of time and effort planning and running the season and swim events. This includes everything from setting up registration, picking the team swimsuit, running the swim meets, organizing team activities and much more!

Please note that everyone who is interested and committed will not be invited to be on the board. There are a limited number of board positions. The current board will collaborate and come to a decision on those who let us know that they are interested and committed to serving the JV Stars.

Are you interested in becoming an NWAL Official?

You may have noticed during swim meets several adults wearing white collared shirts and blue shorts walking up and down the pool deck directly on the edge of the pool. They appear entirely too invested in watching each swimmer and, occasionally, they raise their right hand and perform a funny hand signal. These are NWAL officials who ensure every swimmer has fair and equitable conditions of competition and promote uniformity in the sport so that no swimmer obtains an unfair advantage over another. Without NWAL officials, there could be no swim meets.

We are always looking for new stroke and turn officials. There are numerous advantages to becoming an official including having the best view of the pool during each swim meet, understanding the details of each stroke, turn and finish, your lunch at swim meets is FREE and, most importantly, assisting the improvement of the swimmers by explaining why a disqualification has occurred.

By the way, when you see an official raise their hand and make a funny hand signal, chances are that they just disqualified your son or daughter!
