Happy Mother’s Day to all our JV Stars’ moms. We hope you have a great and relaxing Sunday.

The swimmers were fantastic at Saturday’s swim meet and the weather cooperated to allow us to finish the swim meet. The JV Stars won the swim meet and we really enjoy watching the kids improve. Attached to this email are the results from the swim meet.

Swim Meet Information

We are hosting the Cypresswood Sharks this Saturday at the Jersey Village Pool. Remember, our team set-up this year is between the Pavilion, Pool and Splash Pad.

If you purchased a home meet parking spot, a parking spot is reserved for you in the pool parking lot. Otherwise, you must park at Post Elementary or along the neighborhood streets. There is no parking on Equador St. in front of the pool.

We serve concessions so bring some cash to keep the swimmers and yourself feed and hydrated throughout the swim meet.

Please check your swimmers in by 7:00 a.m. We will have poster-boards set up on the pool’s fence near our team set-up. Your swimmers will be listed along with each event that they will be competing in. Just place a check next to their name and remember to write down their event numbers. If you are running little late, please contact a friend to sign your swimmer in or text Krista at 832-217-5296.

Swim warm-ups for the JV Stars begins at 7:10 a.m.

Parents, you are not permitted to enter the ready bench area and the areas roped off around the pool deck. Only swimmers, officials, timer & scribe volunteers and ready bench volunteers are permitted in this area. Your compliance with this NWAL rule keeps the swim meet moving efficiently. There is plenty of room on the swim deck to watch and cheer for your swimmers while they compete and your swimmer will get to the swim blocks for their race.

PEP RALLY

The Team Pep Rally is rescheduled for this Friday, May 17, 2019, at the Pavilion next to the Jersey Village Pool beginning at 7:15 pm. The team will serve Pizza. Please bring your own drinks, chairs and shareable dessert so that the kids can celebrate the start of another fantastic JV Stars swim season.

Please RSVP ASAP by either responding to this email and letting us know how many members of your family will be attending or posting on the JV Stars Swim Team Facebook group with the number that will be attending. Also, on the Facebook Page, let everyone know what dessert you will be bringing.

JV Stars Spirit Night At Chick-Fil-A

This Thursday, May 16 is our spirit night at the Chick-Fil-A at US 290 and Jones Road. Take a break from cooking and stop by after practice on Thursday for an easy dinner while supporting the JV Stars. When you order, let them know you are with the JV Stars. A portion of your sales price will be donated to the JV Stars swim team. Let friends and family know too and remember to tell them you are with the JV Stars when you are ordering.

Picture Day is Rescheduled

Unfortunately, our photographer has needed to reschedule our picture day. When we get the new date, we will let everyone know. We will have practice Tuesday at normal times.

Volunteer Information

All volunteers need to check in at the swim meet as well. A volunteer check in poster board will also be set up on the pool fence near our team set-up. Officials, Timers & Scribes and Ready Bench volunteers will have separate meetings on the deck at approximately 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

Volunteers Still Needed!!!! We only need to fill three more volunteer spots for this week’s swim meet. We need two Scribes for the second shift of the swim meet! We also need a second shift concession volunteer. It truly takes about 120 parent volunteers to run a swim meet efficiently. Please go to the team website and sign up.

This year, if you volunteered for the swim meet, you will be receiving another email reminding you about your volunteer session. If you need to change volunteer sessions, you must do so on the team website. We also request you inform the appropriate board member (that board member will be listed in the volunteer email you receive) that you will not be attending that volunteer session. This will make it easier for us to fill in the volunteer gaps at the swim meet.

Missing the Meet?

If one or more of your swimmers will be missing the swim meet this week, you will need to change their status to “not attending this meet” on the website. NO MORE MISS A MEET PAPER FORMS! The deadline for withdrawing your swimmer(s) from the swim meet is Tuesday, May 7 at 11:30 PM.

By doing this, the team will be unable to enter your swimmer in the swim meet. If your swimmer is attending, you do not need to go through this process. The assumption is that “undeclared” swimmers will be attending and entered.

Want to Leave a Note for the Coaches?

You can leave notes for the coaches about your swimmer. Go through the same process for missing a swim meet. Except, instead of selecting “not attending this meet” select “Attending this meet”. That will activate a note section for you to leave a short message. After typing the message, you must click “Save”. If you do not, your message will not be saved in the system.

Missing Items?

We have picked up a couple of chairs and a pool towel after the swim meet yesterday. If you are missing something, please check with Krista during practice this week to see if we picked it up.
