The team has received several inquiries about stroke lessons for current JV Star Swimmers and swim lessons for future JV Star Swimmers. It appears there is a considerable amount of confusion about the team’s policy. While we are glad that our swimmers want to work hard outside of practice hours to improve, please understand that the Jersey Village Swim Team does not provide individual or private swim lessons or stroke lessons.

If you are looking for swim lessons for your younger kids, there are numerous organizations that provide swim lessons in a group and individual setting. The City of Jersey Village will be providing swim lessons this summer. If you are interested in the City’s lessons, please call the City at 713-466-2189.

If you are looking for stroke lessons for current team members, you will need to discuss rates, time and location with the instructor of your choice. The team does not schedule or provide a location for stroke lessons. After practices between 7:15 pm – 9:00 pm, individual stroke sessions for registered team members may be scheduled at the pool but only with a coach of the JV Stars. You will need to negotiate the price of such stroke session with the coach. We cannot permit stroke or swim lessons during that time period with any person who has not passed NWAL’s background test and coaches test and who the swim team has not contracted with to be a coach. No individual stroke sessions will be permitted at the JV pool while practices are being conducted. If you schedule a stroke session with a coach, a parent or legal guardian must be present on the swim deck for the entirety of the stroke session.
