    Good Morning,

Another great job by our kids yesterday!!! They are swimming fast and getting better every week. The swimmers have a tough test for their last home and dual swim meet this Saturday against Bridgestone Blue Dolphins. Both teams are undefeated!!! Plus, one more week until we have our Divisional Championship week.

    Morning Practices

Practices are moving to the morning for the rest of the season. Starting Monday, June 3 and continuing through June 14, the practice schedule is as follows:

Practices are still Monday – Friday.

    Swim-A-Thon

Thursday during practice, the team will hold its Swim-A-Thon Fundraiser. As everyone can see at swim meets, there is a lot of equipment needed to run a swim meet. We have several items that need to be replaced. We are requesting each swimmer find some generous sponsors who would be willing to donate to the JV Stars. Sponsors can donate either an amount for each lap that the swimmer completes during the Swim-A-Thon or a fixed amount. The kids are going to swim and swim and swim on Thursday and the coaches have some fun events planned for the session as well. We appreciate everyone's generosity and look forward to watching the kids swim hundreds of laps Thursday!

For Thursday Only During the Swim-A-Thon, 8 years-old and younger swimmers will have their Swim-A-Thon event from 7:00 am – 8:15 am.

For Thursday Only, 9 years-old and older swimmers will have their Swim-A-Thon event from 8:15 – 9:45 am.

    Street Parking During Swim Meets

Yesterday, I spoke with the U.S. Postal Service Mailwoman and she requested that cars not be parked in front of mailboxes. While street parking is permitted during swim meets, please make sure you are not blocking a mailbox. The U.S. Postal Service would appreciate your help with this!

Swim Meet vs. Bridgestone Blue Dolphins

This Saturday, we are hosting the Bridgestone Blue Dolphins at the Jersey Village Pool.

Please check your children in by 7 a.m. Swim warm-ups for the 10 years old and younger swimmers is 7:10 – 7:25 am. Warm-ups for the 11 years old and older swimmers is 7:25 – 7:40 am.

    Volunteer Information

All volunteers need to check in as well.

Additional Volunteers Still Needed!!!  We need to fill up more volunteer spots. We are approaching the end of the season quickly. If you have not completed your minimum volunteer sessions (4 SESSIONS PER FAMILY), you only have two meets to do so. If you do not meet the minimum requirement, the JV Stars will deposit your volunteer check (but we don’t want to because we prefer the help at swim meets). If you have met your minimum requirement, thank you but we always need additional help. Please continue assisting in running efficient swim meets. Go to the team website and sign up.

    1. Meet Set-Up and Tear Down – We need three more volunteers.

    2. Timers – 1 First Shift and 3 Second Shift spots are still open.

    3. Scribes - 1 First Shift spot is still open.

    4. Star Search – 1 Second Shift spot is still open.

End of Season Invitationals – Ponderosa and Red, White and Blue

We will be competing in two end of season invitational swim meets, Ponderosa Invitational and Red, White & Blue 2019 Invitational. To compete in these, a swimmer must have a qualifying time in the event they are to participate in. It will cost $10 per individual event that a swimmer is entered in. The JV Stars will pay for all relay entries.

Ponderosa is the FASTEST meet in NWAL for the “Best of the Best.” Qualifying for this swim meet in any event is a great accomplishment. We encourage anyone who has qualified individually to attend this great meet. It is a preliminary and finals meet for all individual events. Ponderosa will be held at the beautiful Cy-Fair ISD Natatorium located at 12550 Windfern Rd, Houston, Texas 77064 on Saturday June 29 – Sunday June 30.

Red, White and Blue is a fast and efficient meet that has two levels of qualification (Blue Level and Red Level). We encourage everyone who qualifies to attend this meet. It is a great and fun way to end a great season for your swimmer. Red, White & Blue will be held at Campbell Middle School (Across the street from the Cy-Fair Natatorium) at 11415 Bobcat Rd., Houston, TX 77064 on June 28 - June 30.

Attached are the qualification times for each invitational swim meet.  Again, the coaches and team strongly encourage all swimmers who qualify to enter and compete in these swim meets.  In addition to competing in a faster swim meet, your swimmer will have 8 extra days of swim practice.  Those extra days of practice are a great opportunity for further development and refinement of their swim strokes.

To enter your swimmers in these swim meets, you must do so through the team website by 11:30 pm on Saturday, June 15. After logging on to your account on the team website, click on the “Swim Meets” tab. Then go to “Red, White & Blue 2019 Invitational” or “49thAnnual Ponderosa Inviational” and click on the “MEET ENTRY” tab. You should then see a list of all your swimmers. Click on “Edit”. Change each applicable swimmer to “Attending this meet” and you should see a list of events that your swimmer has qualified for. Check each event you want your swimmer entered into. In the note section, state whether your swimmer will be available for relays. Then, you must click “Save” to save your changes. After clicking “Save”, you should see your swimmers listed with “Attending” and a list of all events they have entered into.

Keep checking after each meet to see if your swimmer has qualified for any other events. If so, you will need to enter them into that event as well. If your swimmer(s) have not yet qualified, they still have this weekend's meet and the Divisional Championship swim meet to qualify.

The deadline to enter through the website is Saturday, June 15, 2018 at 11:30 p.m. THIS IS A FIRM DEADLINE. Please note this deadline is the same day as the Divisional Championship swim meet. Thus, you will need to register immediately after the divisional meet if your swimmer posts a qualifying time. If you do not register your swimmer by this deadline, they will not be entered into the invitational meet.

    Everyone have a great week!
