Divisional Championship Week!!! Pancake Breakfast and Invitationals!
What a great season our swimmers are having! Undefeated after five dual meets! Way to go JV Stars!
The swimmers are going to have some fun for the Divisional Championship Week! In addition to the Divisional Championship swim meet, fun activities are planned for the kids during practice and, on Friday, a pancake breakfast!
Divisional Championship Swim Meet
We need all of our swimmers to attend the Divisional Championship Swim Meet!!! To have the opportunity to finish the season undefeated with a 1stplace divisional championship we need participation from everyone. The meet is a little longer but it is inside at a beautiful new High School Natatorium. Set-up is inside too!
The Divisional Championship Swim Meet is at Klein Cain High School’s natatorium located at 10201 Spring Cypress Rd, Houston, TX 77070.
The JV Stars will be competing against all of the teams in our division, Bridgestone Blue Dolphins, Candlelight Hills ‘Cudas, Cypresswood Sharks, Lakes on Eldridge Dolphins and Memorial Northwest Marlins.
The swimmers will compete in an 8-lane pool. Klein ISD has mandated that there be no spray painted hair on the grounds or in the pool, or use of washable markers. ONLY SHARPIE MARKERS TO WRITE EVENT INFORMATION ONLY. Swimmers believed to be wearing washable or water-soluable markers, etc. will be asked to shower/remove markings – showers/bathrooms on site CANNOTbe used for this purpose.
Team set-up will be in the air-conditioned auxiliary gymnasium. Bring your chairs and blankets to stay comfortable during the swim meet. NO TENTS OR INFLATABLE MATTRESSES WILL BE ALLOWED. Cots will be subject to removal based on space.
Check in your swimmers by 6:45 a.m. JV Stars warm-ups will be from 7:00 – 7:25 a.m. in lanes 1 – 4.
We Need More Volunteers
The JV Stars simply do not have enough volunteers signed up for this swim meet. We have about 40 positions to fill. If you will be there, sign-up for, at least, one shift! Please understand, we must fill every volunteer position. That is our duty to the rest of the swim teams in our division as it is theirs to us (every team must provide volunteers). I will be sending out daily reminders this week about volunteers until we fill them all up. If we don’t fill them up by Wednesday, we will just assign families to positions.
If you have not completed your minimum volunteer sessions, this is your last chance. If you do not meet the minimum requirement, the JV Stars will deposit your volunteer check.
Fun-Filled Week of Practices
Each practice this week will have a different theme for the kids to have fun with and get them ready for this week’s swim meet:
Crazy Socks Monday – wear your craziest socks you can find and swim in them too!
Big T-Shirt Tuesday – wear the biggest T-Shirt you have. I suspect there will be some fun games as well.
Water Gun Wednesday – bring your water guns for some wet fun at practice (No Water Balloons Please).
Super Hero Thursday – come dressed as your favorite super hero! Make sure the kids are wearing swim-wear too.
Purple Out Friday – wear all the purple you can find in your closet!!!!
Poster Contest– Please have your swimmers complete a swim-themed poster and bring it with them to practice on Friday! Coaches will select the best posters to be displayed at the Divisional Championship Swim Meet!
Pancake Breakfast– On Friday, there is a pancake breakfast for the swimmers after each of their practices. We will begin cooking pancakes at 7 a.m. and continue until everyone has completed practice (10:30ish).
We need four volunteers to help cook the pancakes and serve the kids. Please sign up for this volunteer session on the website.
End of Season Invitationals – Ponderosa and Red, White and Blue
We will be competing in two end of season invitational swim meets, Ponderosa Invitational and Red, White & Blue 2019 Invitational. To compete in these, a swimmer must have a qualifying time in the event they are to participate in. It will cost $10 per individual event that a swimmer is entered in. Fees are nonrefundable. The JV Stars will pay for all relay entries.
Ponderosa is the FASTEST meet in NWAL for the “Best of the Best.” Qualifying for this swim meet in any event is a great accomplishment. We encourage anyone who has qualified individually to attend this great meet. It is a preliminary and finals meet for all individual events. Ponderosa will be held at the beautiful Cy-Fair ISD Natatorium located at 12550 Windfern Rd, Houston, Texas 77064 on Saturday June 29 – Sunday June 30.
Red, White and Blue is a fast and efficient meet that has two levels of qualification (Blue Level and Red Level). We encourage everyone who qualifies to attend this meet. It is a great and fun way to end a great season for your swimmer. Red, White & Blue will be held at Campbell Middle School (Across the street from the Cy-Fair Natatorium) at 11415 Bobcat Rd., Houston, TX 77064 on June 28 - June 30.
The coaches and team strongly encourage all swimmers who qualify to enter and compete in these swim meets. In addition to competing in a faster swim meet, your swimmer will have 8 extra days of swim practice. Those extra days of practice are a great opportunity for further development and refinement of their swim strokes.
To enter your swimmers in these swim meets, you must do so through the team website by 11:30 pm on Sunday, June 16 (We have extended this deadline by a day). After logging on to your account on the team website, click on the “Swim Meets” tab. Then go to “Red, White & Blue 2019 Invitational” or “49thAnnual Ponderosa Inviational” and click on the “MEET ENTRY” tab. You should then see a list of all your swimmers. Click on “Edit”. Change each applicable swimmer to “Attending this meet” and you should see a list of events that your swimmer has qualified for. Check each event you want your swimmer entered into. In the note section, state whether your swimmer will be available for relays. Then, you must click “Save” to save your changes. After clicking “Save”, you should see your swimmers listed with “Attending” and a list of all events they have entered into.
Check after the divisional swim meet to see if your swimmer has qualified for any other events. If so, you will need to enter them into that event as well. If your swimmer(s) have not yet qualified, they still have the Divisional Championship swim meet to qualify.
The deadline to enter through the website is Sunday, June 16, 2019 at 11:30 p.m. THIS IS A FIRM DEADLINE. Please note this deadline is the day after the Divisional Championship swim meet. Thus, you will need to register immediately after the divisional meet if your swimmer posts a qualifying time. If you do not register your swimmer by this deadline, they will not be entered into the invitational meet.
