Fifth Week - Younger Swimmers Hosting Towne Lake Wake

The 11 year old and older swimmers were fantastic yesterday! They had a challenging swim meet but they rose to the challenge to win. It was close with the JV Stars scoring 436 points to the Cy-Mill Mako Sharks 413 points. The meet results are attached.

It was another efficient and well-run swim meet. Thank you for all of our volunteers this week!

It is the 10 year old and younger swimmers turn this week. They will host the Towne Lake Wake at the Jersey Village Pool. Looking forward to watching our 10 year old and younger swimmers showing off how much they have improved since their first swim meet.

    Practice

We will have practice Monday through Friday at normal times, except for Picture Day, which is discussed below.

    Picture Day

Picture Day is Tuesday May 25th!!! Starting at about 4:00 pm, swimmers can get their Individual and/or Family Photos. At 5:15 pm, we would like to have all swimmers at the pool for the Team Photo. Come dressed in your Team Shirts and swim suits.

Practice on Picture Day will be adjusted significantly and different from what we reported last week (Note: this change is only for Picture Day):

NO PRACTICE FOR 11 YEAR OLD AND OLDER SWIMMERS AND THE 6 YEARS OLD AND YOUNGER SWIMMERS BUT WE DO WANT THEM AT THE POOL FOR THE TEAM PICTURE AT 5:15 PM.

We will have practice for the 7 – 10 years old because they missed so many practices last week due to the weather. These swimmers need to come to the team picture with their team t-shirt and ready to practice afterwards.

    7 and 8 years old 5:45 – 6:25 pm

    9 and 10 years old 6:30 – 7:10 pm

    Picture Order Form is attached.

Sprint Sizzler Mid-Season Invitational Swim Meet

This season, the JV Stars are participating in the Sprint Sizzler Mid-Season Invitational on Sunday, June 6. This is an invitational meet for swimmers who have qualifying times. It will cost $10 per individual event that your swimmer enters and checks can be made out to JV Swim Team. The team will pay for any relay events your swimmer is entered into.

The coaches and JV Stars Swim Team strongly encourage all swimmers who qualify to enter and compete in this swim meet. We want our swimmers competing against the very best swimmers in NWAL and this is one opportunity to do so. The mid-season invitational swim meet is always a fun event.

Summer Sizzle is being held at the wonderful Cy-Fair ISD Natatorium located at 12550 B. Windfern Road, Houston, TX 77064 (next door to Pridgeon Stadium) on Sunday, June 6th.

Qualifying times are attached. For your swimmer to qualify, their time must be equal to or faster than the listed time. Remember that the JV Pool is a meter pool. So you will need to compare your swimmers' times to the Meters Qualifying columns. Swimmers 13 years old and older do not need a qualifying time to participate.

To enter your swimmers in this swim meet, you must do so through the team website by 5 pm Saturday, May 29th. After logging on to your account on the team website, follow these instructions:

Click on the “Swim Meets” tab.

For the “2021 Sprint Sizzler Mid Season Invitational” click on the green “MEET ENTRY” link. You should then see a list of all your swimmers.

    Click on “Edit”.

Change each applicable swimmer to “Attending this meet” and you should see a list of events that your swimmer has qualified for. If your swimmer is not eligible in one or more events, the event will be gray.

Check each event you want your swimmer entered into. Then identify whether your swimmer will be available for relays.

If your swimmer qualifies for, at least, 2 events, your swimmer will be allowed to swim all additional events (with the exception of the 11 – 12 100 Free, 10 & Under 50 Free and 100 Individual Medley). If you want to bonus in additional events for your swimmer, include that in the note section.

Then, you must click “Save” to save your changes. After clicking “Save”, you should see your swimmers listed with “Attending” and a list of all events they are entered into.

Payment must be made to the team by Monday, May 31.

    Water Runner Volunteers Needed

We need two water runner volunteers for this week’s swim meet. If you are available Saturday and have not signed up for another volunteer session, please sign up for these jobs.

    Swim Meet Information

Bring your tents, chairs, blankets, tarps, etc. with you to the swim meet and set up near your friends and neighbors. Please set up your tents in the area between the pool and the pavilion and splash pad.

Parking in the pool’s parking lot is first come first serve. You can also park in the Post Elementary parking lot. Parking is permitted along the streets around the pool. However, do not park in the areas marked with “No Parking” signs that we place out in front of the pool, along Jersey Drive and Shanghai Street. Please do not block mailboxes and driveways.

We will have concessions for breakfast and lunch. Bring some cash or your credit cards to keep the swimmers and yourself feed and hydrated throughout the swim meet.

Please check your swimmers in by 7:00 a.m. We will have poster-boards set up on a fence near our team set-up. Your swimmers will be listed along with each event that they will be competing in. Just place a check next to their name and remember to write down their event numbers. If you are running a little late, please contact a friend to sign your swimmer in.

Swim warm-ups for the JV Stars begins at 7:10 a.m.

If your swimmer is wearing a mask to the swim block, we request a parent accompany them through the ready bench and to the block to collect the mask and carry it to the other side of the pool. Otherwise, you are not permitted to enter the ready bench area and the areas roped off around the pool deck. Only swimmers, officials, timer & scribe volunteers and ready bench volunteers are permitted in this area. Your compliance with this NWAL rule keeps the swim meet moving efficiently. There is plenty of room on the swim deck to watch and cheer for your swimmers while they compete and your swimmer will get to the swim blocks for their race.

Remember that the large gate closest to Post Elementary School (near the diving board and slide) will be entrance only. The gate near the pool parking lot and bathrooms are exit only. We appreciate everyone complying with this simple rule to keep people moving through the pool area efficiently.

    Volunteer Information

All volunteers need to check in as well. A volunteer check in poster board will also be set up on a fence near our team set-up. Officials will have a meeting at 7:50 am. Timers & Scribes and Ready Bench volunteers will have separate meetings on the deck at approximately 8:15 a.m. Saturday morning.

Need to change you volunteer session? Each family needs to earn 2 volunteer sessions. If you need to change sessions or remove yourself from a volunteer session, follow these steps:

    Go to www.jerseyvillage.swimtopia.com

Login to your account via the login link at the top right hand corner of the website.

    Click “Swim Meet” tab.

Click “JOB SIGNUP” link for correct swim meet.

    Click “Sign up Jobs”.

You can then change your selections for that swim meet.Missing the Meet?

If one or more of your swimmers will be missing the swim meet this week, you will need to change their status to “not attending this meet” on the website. The deadline for withdrawing your swimmer(s) from the swim meet is Tuesday, May 11 at 11:30 PM.

To indicate that your swimmer(s) will be missing the meet, follow these steps:

    Go to www.jerseyvillage.swimtopia.com

Login to your account via the login link at the top right hand corner of the website.

Click on the “Swim Meets” tab.

Click on the “MEET ENTRY” tab next to Saturday’s Swim Meet.

All of your swimmers will then be listed. Click “Edit” and then change the status of each swimmer that will not be attending the meet to “not attending this meet.”

Then, you must click “Save” or your changes will not be registered in the system.

By selecting “not attending this meet”, the team will be unable to enter your swimmer in the swim meet. If your swimmer is attending, you do not need to go through this process. The assumption is that “undeclared” swimmers will be attending and entered.

Want to Leave a Note for the Coaches?

You can leave notes for the coaches about your swimmer. For example, if your swimmer will be leaving early and will not be present for the free-style relays, you will need to leave the coaches a note. Go through the same process for missing a swim meet. Except, select “Attending this meet”. That will activate a note section for you to leave a short message. After typing the message, you must click “Save”. If you do not, your message will not be saved in the system.

    Heat Sheets

On Friday, the team will email out the Heat Sheets for Saturday’s swim meet.

Thank you and I hope everyone has a great week!
