Our Ten Years Old and Younger Swimmers did a great job yesterday! We watched a lot of kids drop time on their events and did so against a very good swim team. The meet score was Towne Lake Wake -387 to JV Stars – 229. Meet results are attached.

Thank you for everyone’s assistance at the meet yesterday! It takes about 100 adults to run a swim meet. I know we emphasize the need for volunteers but swim meets and swim team cannot happen without every family helping out.

Please review the email. We send these emails to inform everyone about all the team’s events each week. If you ever have a question about when or where a team event will be occurring, the answer is in this email.

Our 11 year old and older swimmers hit the road this week! The Towne Lake Wake will be hosting our older swimmers at the Towne Lake pool. Information on the meet is below.

Practice

NO SWIM PRACTICE ON MEMORIAL DAY, MONDAY MAY 31. Everyone enjoy their day off and take time to remember and honor those men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice while serving in our military. Practices will resume Tuesday afternoon at normal times. WE DO NOT SWITCH TO MORNING PRACTICES THIS WEEK. That will occur on June 7. The following will be the schedule for morning practices:

6:30 am – 7:00 am – 6 & unders

7:00 am – 7:40 am – 7 – 8 years old

7:40 am – 8:20 am – 9 – 10 years old

8:20 am – 9:40 am – 11 years old and older (the coaches may split this practice up but the coaches will handle that at the first morning practice).

Sprint Sizzler Mid-Season Invitational Swim Meet

We are looking forward to our first Invitational Swim Meet. 43 of our swimmers have signed up for the event. The meet is at the CyFair ISD Natatorium at 12550 B Windfern Rd, Houston, TX 77064. It is next dear to Pridgeon Stadium. The natatorium will be set up with two pools running at once.

If coming from Jersey Village, you will go north on Beltway 8 and take the Fallbrook Rd. exit. Take a left on Fallbrook and then a right on Perry Rd. Take a left on Windfern Rd. and the Natatorium is to your right. There is parking on both sides of Pridgeon Stadium. We like for our families to set up near each other. Krista and myself will be there early to grab a area for the team to set up. Set up will be in the grassy area to the east of the Natatorium.

THERE IS NO SETUP inside the Natatorium. No flash photography while in the natatorium. Parents will be allowed in the stands to watch their swimmers. Masks are encouraged but not required for anyone entering the Natatorium.

Warm-ups start at 9 am and the meet will begin at 11 am. Heat sheets will be provided once we receive them.

We will also need some volunteers to time and scribe at the meet. If you want to help the team out, please let us know.

Volunteers Needed For Saturday’s Swim Meet at Towne Lake

We have several volunteer jobs open this week and we have more than enough families to fill these jobs (ready bench, runners, timers & scribes needed). GO AND SIGN UP NOW IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED YOUR VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS. It does not appear that the team will fill every volunteer session for the season. IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT, THE TEAM WILL DEPOSIT YOUR FAMILY’S VOLUNTEER CHECK. NO EXCEPTIONS. The first three families that respond to this email and answer the following question correctly will receive 15% off their family registration for the 2022 swim season. What year did Memorial Day become an official federal holiday?

Swim Meet Information

Towne Lake’s pool is at 10000 Towne Lake Parkway. If coming from Jersey Village, you will go West on 290 and exit Barker Cypress. Take Barker Cypress going South until you reach Towne Lake Parkway. Take a right on Tuckerton. After you cross the first bridge, turn right into Towne Lake Lakehouse Center.

There is a large parking lot west of the pool. Parking is also permitted along Tuckerton but only on the North side of the road. No parallel parking on the South side of Tuckerton.

The image attached shows where you can and cannot park and where our team set-up ins (in the yellow outlined area).

Concessions are provided by Chick-Fil-A for breakfast and lunch. Bring some cash or your credit cards to keep the swimmers and yourself feed and hydrated throughout the swim meet.

Please check your swimmers in by 7:15 a.m. We will have poster-boards set up near our team set-up. Your swimmers will be listed along with each event that they will be competing in. Just place a check next to their name and remember to write down their event numbers. If you are running a little late, please contact a friend to sign your swimmer in.

Swim warm-ups for the JV Stars begins at 7:40 a.m.

Volunteer Information

All volunteers need to check in as well. A volunteer check in poster board will also be set up on a fence near our team set-up. Officials will have a meeting at 7:45 am. Timers & Scribes and Ready Bench volunteers will have separate meetings on the deck at approximately 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Need to change you volunteer session? Each family needs to earn 2 volunteer sessions. If you need to change sessions or remove yourself from a volunteer session, follow these steps:

Go to www.jerseyvillage.swimtopia.com

Login to your account via the login link at the top right hand corner of the website.

Click “Swim Meet” tab.

Click “JOB SIGNUP” link for correct swim meet.

Click “Sign up Jobs”.

You can then change your selections for that swim meet.

Missing the Meet?

If one or more of your swimmers will be missing the swim meet this week, you will need to change their status to “not attending this meet” on the website. The deadline for withdrawing your swimmer(s) from the swim meet is Tuesday, May 11 at 11:30 PM.

To indicate that your swimmer(s) will be missing the meet, follow these steps:

Go to www.jerseyvillage.swimtopia.com

Login to your account via the login link at the top right hand corner of the website.

Click on the “Swim Meets” tab.

Click on the “MEET ENTRY” tab next to Saturday’s Swim Meet.

All of your swimmers will then be listed. Click “Edit” and then change the status of each swimmer that will not be attending the meet to “not attending this meet.”

Then, you must click “Save” or your changes will not be registered in the system.

By selecting “not attending this meet”, the team will be unable to enter your swimmer in the swim meet. If your swimmer is attending, you do not need to go through this process. The assumption is that “undeclared” swimmers will be attending and entered.

Want to Leave a Note for the Coaches?

You can leave notes for the coaches about your swimmer. For example, if your swimmer will be leaving early and will not be present for the free-style relays, you will need to leave the coaches a note. Go through the same process for missing a swim meet. Except, select “Attending this meet”. That will activate a note section for you to leave a short message. After typing the message, you must click “Save”. If you do not, your message will not be saved in the system.

Heat Sheets

On Friday, the team will email out the Heat Sheets for Saturday’s swim meet.
